When Will I Get My Period?!
It can be tough to be the late bloomer in your group of friends and it may seem hard to believe now but periods are not that great!
Your periods will begin when your body is ready. There is no way to kick start it, so you need to drop that idea now!
The average age a girl starts her period is 12.5 years old but girls can get there period anywhere between 8-17 years old. A good way to narrow down the age you will start your period is to ask your mum and sister/s what age they got theirs. Closely related females often start their periods at the same age.
You probably won't start your period until you have begun breast growth, have some pubic hair and experience discharge. But even if you have all of these ticked off your period could still be over a year away. Some girls notice underarm hair before getting their first period but once again this is no clear indicator. If there was a way to tell when you would get your period you would already know, so just try and chillax one day it will come!
Something I realised after getting my period was that even though I had started it most of the time I didn't have it. You only get your period once week out of every month and when you first start your periods can be quite far apart. So all this time I had looked at older girls as mature because they had their period when 75% of the time they were just like me!
Being the last in my group friends to get their period I thought of myself as the inexperienced one. So I decided as soon as I got my period I would use tampons. Since none of my friends used tampons I went from the inexperienced one to the experienced one and I had to explain to all of them how to use tampons, something I thought would have never happened. This is something you could consider trying if you want to be seen by your friends as experienced.
