Making New Friends
Sometimes when your group of friends take things a step to far it can be time to branch off and find your own group of friends. However making new friends can be hard especially if you're not a naturally confident person so here are a couple tips to follow.
♥ Be a kind happy person. No-one wants a depressed friend. If you look like a nice person people will want to be your friend because you'll bring a happy vibe to the group. Simple things such as manners and a genuine smile can go a long way. You need to take the opportunity to be a kind person, they won't get handed to you on a plate. If someone's forgot their pen lend them one of yours, if someone hasn't got a partner for a maths game ask to go with them, if you see a person you can help take the opportunity.
♥ Join clubs! There are many clubs you can join at high school and middle school and it's about time you went to some, there are lots of new people to meet.
♥ Volunteer and/or join a church. Many kind people volunteer for the community and go to church. They're nice people who are easy to make friends with and they won't let you down. You could volunteer at the local animal shelter for instance.
♥ Ask to hang out with a new group of people, it may seem like the scariest thing in the world but it's really not. If you know that the group don't like you then don't ask to be with them but if they are a group that don't know you they should be okay with you joining in. If you see they're trying to get rid of you leave it be you don't want to be the person who forces themselves into the group.
♥ Invite someone to hang out on the weekend. If you have a friend that you like but you don't see out of school ask them round. It may feel slightly weird but it's a good way to get to know each other better. You might even be able to explain your situation with your old friends so they'll invite you to hang out with them during school.
♥ Introduce yourself. If you've moved to a new school people might not know who you are. Introducing yourself gives them the opportunity to start a conversation with you.
Keep trying and don't give up. You can't make friends over-night!
